Butcher takes novel route to promotion

A Warwick butcher has teamed up with a local estate agent to launch a novel promotional campaign to attract new customers to the shop in the run-up to Christmas.

Terry Dye of Rumps the Butcher in Warwick is working with ehB Residential on a joint business venture, which will offer people who instruct the estate agents this month a £50 meat voucher. The voucher is to be spent during December.
Terry said that it all came out of a conversation with Edward Bromwich at ehB Residential. He said: “We’re actively involved in the local business community and thought it would be good to do something together. We’re trying to stimulate interest, so ehB is giving a £50 voucher to anyone who puts their house on the market during December.”
Although Rumps will make a small margin on the voucher, the primary benefit to the butcher’s shop is the extra publicity that it garners. ehB placed a full centre-page advertisement in the Warwick and Leamington Courier, which Terry hopes will attract new customers, as well as reminding people to buy their meat from a quality butcher in the run-up to Christmas.
“It’s very much an opportunity for us, as we get a double whammy of visibility,” said Terry. “Lots of people have already come in and said that they’ve seen us in the paper. Hopefully, we’ll get a whole raft of orders,” he said. “We’ve already distributed 14,000 leaflets in the area ourselves, but it is a good time to remind people.”
