Sainsbury's recalls beef products on "quality" question
Sainsbury’s has announced it recalled some of its beef range earlier this month, but stressed it was down to quality problems, and not food safety.
In a statement, the retailer said: “We removed some of our joints and steaks from stores on Friday 18 November, as they did not meet our usual high standards for quality.”
However it went on to say that disruption was kept to a minimum: “We ensured that extra beef was available on our meat counters over the weekend and stock levels had returned to normal by Monday. We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.”
