Those wanting to attend this year's Butcher Shop of the Year awards are urged to book soon, as there are only a few seats remaining.

This year's event is promising to be as exciting as ever, with intense competition from some superb entries. The winners will be announced at a glittering lunch at a new venue for 2008 - the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London, on 18 November.

Editor of MTJ, Ed Bedington said: "We've had some brilliant entries this year and the judges have had a hard time whittling down the entries to our shortlists of finalists.

"Butcher's businesses are becoming more and more sophisticated in today's market and that is reflected by the quality of the businesses entering our awards."

The awards are being supported by EBLEX, Lucas Ingredients and Food to Go, Bizerba, Weddel Swift and Harmony Farm, the Scotch Butchers Club, the Meat Training Council, Danish Bacon & Meat Council, BPEX and Tican Chilled.
