Sunderland butcher has “ambitious plans”

Dickson’s family pork butchers is opening two new shops in the Sunderland area by the end of the year, and plans to expand further in the future. Chief operating officer Kevin Lee said: “The company has ambitious plans. We’re very keen to expand both on the retail side and on the wholesale side.”

The first shop is opening next week in Pallion, and will specialise in prepared meals and take-away. The company has also secured the lease for another shop in Maritime Terrace, which should open after Christmas.

“We have a very strong brand in the area, and our products are veru popular in that part of Sunderland,” Lee added. “But we are not restricting our expansion to there, we have also looked at locations in the Newcastle area, and anywhere in the North East.”

Lee believes the company’s success is due to its reputation as a family business selling quality products.
