NBA board members resign following row
The board of the National Beef Association has stepped down following the organisation’s decision to review its governance structure. The decision was made at the association’s AGM, which was held at Hexham, Northumberland, last week
A review committee, chaired by Hamish BcBean and including directors Stephen Heenan, Peter Surman and John Fleming, has been appointed to re-examine the association’s constitution and internal rules and make recommendations on its management structure.
The remaining directors on the board, including the orgnaisation’s chairman Oisin Murnion and treasurer James Fanshawe, have stood down to allow the process to take place.
In a statement, the NBA said that the decision to restructure was made “when it became clear that structures adopted almost 13 years ago were no longer adequate and a comprehensive re-organisation of its management methods was needed.”
However, reports in the farming press suggest that the move was triggered by a fierce internal row over the Fanshawe’s position as treasurer, which culminated in an attempt by former NBA chairman Christopher-Thomas Everard to force Fanshawe’s removal from the position.
