Nurse in Practice conference promotes red meat

 - Published:  10 October, 2011

Red meat’s health attributes will be at the forefront of the Nursing in Practice conference in Wales this month.

Welsh red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) will be present at the event to run a survey on what nurses think constitutes a healthy diet. The agency’s consumer executive, Elwen Roberts, said: “We will be there to offer nurses accurate and balanced information on how red meat can help play a role in helping a patient fully recover after illness, or simply as part of a general healthy lifestyle.”

Published nutritionist Dr Carrie Ruxton is scheduled to give a talk on the key benefits of red meat and how health professionals can advise patients who wish to eat it.

The conference will take place at Cardiff’s City Hall on 19 October. HCC has also produced a series of booklets and cookbooks that will be available at the event.

Recently, a poster campaign featuring rugby ace Chris Paterson was launched in Scotland’s schools to highlight the health benefits of red meat.
