Butcher stabbed to death

A butcher has been stabbed to death at his shop in north London. Irfam Ahmad, 24, was attacked at the Halal Food Direct store in Wood Green last Thursday in the middle of the afternoon. He was treated by the paramedics, but died at the scene.

DCI Steven Lawrence, from The Metropolitan Police, said: “At this early stage it appears there was a dispute in the shop, which resulted in the victim being stabbed. The male suspect then made off from the premises on foot.

“This incident occurred in a busy area in the middle of the afternoon, and we need to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.”

Shahie Ali, owner of the shop where the victim was  employed, said the dispute was “completely external” and had nothing to do with the shop. “We are very sad about the loss of a colleague and friend,” he added.
