McDonald’s posts positive results

 - Published:  12 September, 2011

McDonald’s announced the 100th consecutive month of growth, with global comparable sales rising 3.5% for August.

European sales were up 2.7%, led by a positive performance in the UK and Russia, which the company said was driven by Europe’s premium offerings, as well as locally relevant food events and modernised restaurants.

Sales in the US were up 3.9%, driven by beverage sales and breakfasts in particular, although growth in the Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa was down 0.3%.

The fast food chain has returned strong sales this year, with European sales up 5.3% in July 2011, with strong demand for beef and chicken products.
