Scots ready to meet their muddy match

Farming can be a lonely pastime, but now there is a chance for Scots with a passion for the countryside to meet their perfect match.

Online community MuddyMatches.co.uk has teamed up with the Scottish Countryside Alliance to host a light-hearted evening of speed dating for country-minded, 'muddy' people of all ages.

The evening will take place from 7.30 on Friday 24th October 2008 in the George Suite of the Roxburghe Hotel, Edinburgh and the organisers hope to see a wide range of single country people coming together from across the region to see if they hit it off.

Lucy Reeves, of Muddy Matches, said: "Speed dating is a tried and tested formula and a really fun way to meet some new people. Sometimes people worry that they will not have enough to say to some of their 'dates' but what makes this event so special is that, being specifically aimed at country-minded people, everyone attending will automatically have something in common.

"We have held a number of similar events in England and they have always been well attended so we are delighted, with the help of the Scottish Countryside Alliance, to be able to bring the idea to Scottish muddies!"

Amelia Farquhar, Office and Events manager with the SCA said: "This is a bit of fun and Muddy Matches have a track record of success in organising such events, so we are very happy for our members to have the opportunity to enjoy speed dating with a country twist."

The event is for all ages and participants will be divided into suitable age ranges on the night
