The 2012 Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards will take place on Thursday 22nd November at The Landmark, London.

Davidsons Specialist Butchers (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) named Butcher’s Shop of the Year 2011!

Davidsons Specialist Butchers took the top honour at Meat Trades Journal’s 2011 Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards which took place on Wednesday 16th November at The Landmark, London.
They were crowned the overall winner after being named the Scottish Butcher’s Shop of the Year.

Judges said that the sheer quality and imagination of its added value products alongside other top quality home made products won this shop the Scottish title. The business has embraced new technology with an intranet for staff, a presence on Twitter – which has helped develop new business ideas and contacts – and on Facebook, which is more customer focused. Its clever use of new technology allied to its training programme for staff put Davidsons Specialist Butchers in pole position for the Overall Award – the Meat Trades Journal Butcher’s Shop of the Year.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to John Taylor, Immediate Past National President, National Federation of Meat and Food Traders for his unstinting work fighting for the rights of independent butchers and seeking higher industry standards in areas including food hygiene, education and training.

Other winners on the night included Cwmcerrig Farm Shop (Llanelli) named Farm Shop of the Year, Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall (Penrith) who won the Butcher’s Plus award, and Andrew Brassington of Ludlow Food Centre who was named the Young Butcher of the Year.
