Binghams back in private hands
A meat paste company is to expand its product range following a management buyback.
Bingham's Foods of Sheffield, which specialises in potted beef spreads, has been bought back into private hands from Northern Foods by former general manager Peter Moon.
Moon commented: "To come back to the company where I was a manager all those years ago is terrific."
In order to increase turnover a new beef and tomato spread has been launched.
Moon added: "Bingham's is one of only a few companies which still maintains van sales with drivers delivering to corner shops, care homes, and other retail outlets.
"It is a good way of getting instant feedback on new products."
The buy back was financed with the help of UK Steel Enterprise, South Yorkshire Investment Fund and the Alliance and Leicester Bank.
