Genetics experts meet on pigs

 - Published:  07 August, 2008

Leading experts in the field of pig genetics are meeting to discuss the current plight of the industry and what the future will bring.

Held at the University of Nottingham, the UK-JSR Genetics' 19th Technical Conference will take place on 16 September, 2008, and uniquely for this year, the conference has invited two competition-winning students, Claudia Richards and Dagmar Kapell, to present their research to dignitaries.

JSR Genetics chair Tim Rymer said: "JSR's Technical Conference is always a highlight and introducing these talented individuals to the industry will make it really special. They are knowledgeable, skilled, determined. Both have a tremendous amount to offer and we really are duty-bound to ensure that such potential isn't wasted."

Entitled '50 Years of Excellence in Breeding,' the conference will have a range of speakers, including Dr Huw Jones of the Genesis Faraday Partnership, former Marks & Spencer agricultural manager Rob Cumine and Belgian pig producer Wouter Sinnaeve.
