Organisers gear up for Scottish Speciality Food Show

On January 23-25, one of Britain’s most respected food trade events, the Scottish Speciality Food Show, will bring together hundreds of fine food buyers and artisan producers from the UK and beyond.

An annual focal point for food businesses in Scotland and the north of England, the show at the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre also attracts top buyers from Scotland, Wales and the north of England.

The two-day event includes a series of skills workshops for deli and farm shop owners, including Feed the Dragon, where small and upcoming producers will pitch their products Dragons’ Den-style to buyers from top independent retailers including Harvey Nichols, the National Trust and Harrods.

Run by the Guild of Fine Food, the Scottish Speciality Food Show attracts top end buyers from delis, farm shops, independent retailers, caterers and wholesalers looking for quality artisan produce with a real wow factor.

Guild director John Farrand said: “The Speciality Food Show is an important ‘gathering of the clans’, if you’ll forgive the Scottish pun. The show is a great place for retailers and producers to come together and exchange ideas and network. We’re hoping the show will generate some dynamic ideas, stimulate conversation and offer a little enlightenment on the perks and perils of Twitter and finding food lovers on Facebook.”
