Real Boar wins Taste Award

 - Published:  01 August, 2008

The Real Boar Company's wild boar salami with red wine has won a highly coveted three-star gold award at the Great Taste Awards 2008.

The salami, which is made from wild boar farmed naturally in the Cotswolds, was one of only 72 products to receive three-stars in the Awards, which saw nearly 4,800 entries.

Simon Gaskell, the boar farmer, said: "I am absolutely delighted. The boar are the stars and Andrew and Charlie, our butchers, make a mean salami! It is very exciting to have the product recognised. Our range of salamis has been so well-received by delis and chefs alike."

The salami has also received recognition from French chef Richard Bertinet, who was so impressed that he created a special dish with it, which he showcased at the recent Taste Festival in Bath.
