Meatmania dubbed a success
The Eblex and Bpex export teams said they had a successful first-time visit to the Meatmania exhibition in Bulgaria earlier this month.
They showed a range of beef, lamb and pork products at the show, which took place in Sofia from 10 to 13 November.
Jean-Pierre Garnier, head of exports for Eblex and Bpex, said: “The major interest for the UK meat sector is as an outlet for a great variety of offal, for which there is little demand in Britain. In this respect, Bulgaria is very complementary to the UK market.”
Bulgarians consume all parts of the animal as part of the Balkan cookery tradition. Bulgaria is a net importer of meat, as local production is small, making it an ideal export market for the UK.
