Awards just a short step away

The judging is done and the results, which will reveal Britain's best butcher's shop, are just days away.

This year's Butcher's Shop of the Year awards will welcome some of the country's best butchers to London in the competition for regional and national titles to see which are the best in the business.

Organised by Meat Trades Journal, the awards take place on 16 November at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, and are sponsored by Eblex, Bpex, Weddel Swift and Harmony Farm, Lucas Ingredients, Tican Chilled, Bizerba, QMS' Scotch Butcher's Club, the Meat Training Council and Verstegen Spices & Sauces.

Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: "This year we've seen some superb businesses enter the awards, and I'm delighted to see the strength that still exists in this sector. Times may be tough, but the butchery sector is rising to the challenge, and that's great to see."
