London delivery scheme launched

 - Published:  23 July, 2008

People in north London can now have meat delivered to their door, as part of a new scheme launched this week.

The Ginger Pig, in Marylebone, has started a van delivery service after residents in nearby Hampstead inundated them with calls, begging them to open a shop following the closure of long-established butchers Steele's.

Shop manager Patrice Lardon said that, with the deliveries, he hoped "to offer a good-quality service", despite the fact that most people wanted a shop rather than deliveries.

So far, seven people have made orders for the week which will delivered by van, although Lardon added: "We to need to employ more drivers."
