Do not miss out on your chance to join in a celebration of some of best businesses in the butchery arena. Bookings are still available for the UK’s most prestigious butchery competition, MTJ’s Butcher’s Shop of the Year awards.
The awards celebrate the best operators in the business from right across the UK, with one shop being declared the overall best in the country.
Ed Bedington, editor of MTJ, said: “Times are tough, but butchers are natural born survivors and always manage to rise to a challenge.
“Our finalists this year are testament to that. We may be facing challenging circumstances, but they continue to innovate and develop their businesses in the face of adversity and as a result, they’ve come out on top.”
This year’s event, which takes place in the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in London, will see entertainment from up and coming comedian Patrick Monahan, a half-Irish, half-Iranian Geordie who claims to have spent every family holiday stuck in customs as a result.
The Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards covers butchers’ shops around the country, with the winner in each region going head-to-head to see which one is declared the best butcher’s shop in the UK. As well as Young Butcher and the new Halal category, the competition also includes other stand-alone national awards, including Butcher’s Plus, Farm Shop and Innovation of the Year.
The competition is judged in two rounds, with an initial paper entry assessed by a panel of expert judges and the shortlisted finalists then visited by our on-the-road judges to decide the overall winners. The Innovation of the Year is also being assessed on paper, and the winner picked during the first round of judging.
This year’s awards, which take place on 16 November at The Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, London, are sponsored by Eblex, Bpex, Weddel Swift and Harmony Farm, Lucas Ingredients, Tican Chilled, Bizerba, QMS’ Scotch Butcher’s Club, the Meat Training Council and Verstegen Spices & Sauces.
