The Co-op undercuts the competition with dine-in offer
|
The Co-operative is set to take on high street rivals with the launch of a new range, alongside an offer for customers of a complete meal for two for £5.
The Co-operative said its Eat In range, featuring a selection of ready-to-cook meat and fish dishes alongside prepared vegetable accompaniments, is aimed at providing convenient, quality, fresh meal solutions for consumers to cook at home.
The range, which launches tomorrow (8 September) includes Scottish salmon in a watercress and béchamel sauce with soft cheese, Chardonnay and shallots; British Elmwood chicken breast fillets wrapped in streaky bacon and topped with mature cheddar cheese, and British beefburgers with a pepper melt.
The range is being launched under an offer that sees customers able to create a great-value evening meal for two for just £5. Shoppers can choose any pre-prepared meat or fish dish, plus two products from a selection of prepared vegetable side dishes. The accompaniments include cabbage & leek medley, baby potatoes wih herbs & butter, cauliflower cheese and carrot & swede mash.
The range also includes a selection of ready-to-roast joints, such as a tender butter-basted Elmwood chicken breast joint, a Scottish boneless beef joint, a boneless lamb joint with rosemary and a gammon joint with a blossom honey and black treacle glaze.
The retailer added that all the poultry used is The Co-operative’s higher-welfare Elmwood standard and British and the beef and pork used in the Eat In range is also 100% British.
