Cheap fish challenge to meat

 - Published:  16 August, 2010

Rising fish consumption could be making inroads into the meat market, industry watchers have claimed.

According to comparison site mysupermarket.com, the falling price of fish, around 8%, compared with average rises in meat, around 10%, is likely to see seafood take a larger share of the consumer’s plate going forwards.

Campaigners point to the limited environmental impact of fish consumption, compared with meat, and said those rising costs, coupled with health concerns were pushing more people to switch to fish.
