Rectory Foods opens UAB Baltreka Lithuania plant
Cheshire-based Rectory Foods has opened a facitlity in Lithuania to handle sourcing, distribution and transport of poultry products from the Baltic area.
Operating as UAB Baltreka, the division will sell products into major Western European food manufacturers and processing companies.
UAB Baltreka, which already forms 10% of Rectory Foods’ business, will focus on poultry cuts, chicken breast fillets, convenience foods, beef and pork products for manufacturing and wholesale. There are also plans to enter the retail market later in the year.
Rectory Foods chief executive Charles Woolley commented: "Eastern Europe has become an important part of our business and it made sense for us to set up a base there. Our reputation is growing within the region and we have established a loyal customer base."
UAB Baltreka exports to the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and China, working with poultry, pork and beef suppliers in Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Latvia and Poland, the UK, Scandinavia, Germany, India and China.
