Samsung electronics creates new division
Samsung Electronics has launched a new division, Samsung Professional Appliances (SPA), to distribute its range of food preparation equipment in the UK. The first range to come under SPA's umbrella will be Samsung's commercial microwave ovens. The company says the move means it will be able to offer a better service to customers and underlines Samsung's commitment to the foodservice sector.
"The combination of quality, value and advanced technology has given Samsung a significant share of the commercial microwave oven market," said David Watts, head of Samsung Professional Appliances. "However, the brand plans to grow further. We intend to introduce new commercial microwave models and move into new product sectors in the next 12 months. Consequently, it made good business sense to bring distribution in-house.
"The move also allows us to get closer to our customers, as we will be able to deliver a more dedicated, focused approach to the foodservice sector."
