Cobb Europe given go-ahead for £3m poultry facility
|
Breckland Council in Norfolk is giving the go-ahead for Cobb Europe to construct a 'state-the-art breeding facility' to build over its chicken farm near Bawdeswell.
Used for meat production, Cobb Breeding has been given permission to redevelop its 2.45 hectare site at Elsing Lane Farm after Breckland Council’s development control committee voted in favour of the scheme.
Euan Meldrum, Cobb Europe marketing manager, said: "We are investing close to £3m in completely redeveloping the existing farm to provide state-of-the-art breeding facilities. The farm will produce grandparent stock for our distributors across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
"The investment will provide the highest welfare and biosecurity standards and will enable us to expand production by around 15% to help meet the increasing demand for Cobb chickens in the UK, greater Europe and around the world."
