Eblex Conference shows way for meat exporters

 - Published:  05 July, 2010

Beef and lamb producers looking to export were given an insight into how to exploit available opportunities abroad at the recently held Eblex Export Conference.

The sixth annual event, held this year at Stoneleigh Park, in Warwickshire, saw 80 delegates come together to get an overview of global marketplace trends, learn about requirements for offal and halal products, look at how to get the best prices and discuss best-practice, and look at ongoing marketing work in France to support and develop the UK’s largest lamb export market.

Speakers included Eblex sector director Nick Allen, head of trade development Peter Hardwick, head of UK-based export team Jean-Pierre Garnier, and Remi Fourrier, manager of AHDB France, as well as visiting industry experts from Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium and UAE.

Garnier said: "Each year the event grows and there is a significant participation from the industry, who recognise the value in getting together to look at ways of reaching new markets and connecting with foreign importers.

"There was a lot of discussion between agencies and exporters and it is a great networking opportunity and the chance for one-to-one meetings.

"Eblex continues to work hard to help producers who want to export and to look at the best route to new markets overseas."
