Witwood bought by US firm Newly Weds Foods

UK ingredients manufacturer Witwood Food Products has been snapped up by the US-based firm Newly Weds Foods for an undisclosed sum.

The combination of the two businesses will give customers across the globe access to a range of innovative new products and technologies, the US company claimed.

Witwood is headquartered in Banbury, UK with additional manufacturing sites in Australia and Thailand servicing a customer base of more than 250 food processors and manufacturers. Founder, David Osborne, established the company in 1982 and has since overseen the company’s continuing growth into a global business employing 270 people worldwide.

Headquartered in Chicago, Newly Weds Foods is a leader in the production of food coatings, seasonings and functional ingredients for the food processing and foodservice industries.

In addition to 15 North American manufacturing facilities, Newly Weds has manufacturing sites in China, Australia, Thailand, the Philippines and Holland as well as UK operations in Yorkshire and Northamptonshire.

Witwood will operate as a division of Newly Weds Foods and continue business at its Banbury site, which currently employs 165 people and houses the group’s headquarters, European manufacturing and new product development facilities.
