Q Guild butchers share ideas

 - Published:  01 June, 2010

The Q Guild Marketing Weekend took place on 15-16 May, with a gala dinner and a marketing conference that allowed members to discuss how independents can stand up to the multiples.

Q Guild chair Philip Cranston kicked off proceedings by updating those present on the achievements of the Guild throughout the year, with particular focus on the launch of the Countryside Food Uncovered consumer publication and the Q Guild's '5 Year Plan', set up in 2009, which is claimed to have already transformed the Q Guild in a structured and proactive way.

Eblex trade marketing executive Laura Bishop gave a presentation on the Statistics on Independent Trading, highlighting the increasing proportion of the market that the multiples are now dominating. And Q Guild members Frank Taylor, John Mettrick, Jon Thorner and Robert Jones also shared their marketing strategies with members.
