R&J Catering Butchers to expand
A catering butchery operation has announced a £200,000 expansion of its north Yorkshire operations. R&J Catering Butchers will effectively double the size of its meat production facilities, the company said.
Established in 1978 by husband-and wife farmers Robert and Jo Atkinson, R & J Catering Butchers, based in Kirkby Malzeard, near Ripon, supplies meat products to catering establishments across Yorkshire.
The business sells its own farm-reared and fattened prime beef and lamb from the neighbouring family holding, also sourcing these and other meat, poultry and game products from local farmers and estates within a 15-mile radius.
The company currently employs a 13-strong staff and said new jobs will be created when the expansion project is completed later this year.
Ryan Atkinson, managing director, said: “Extending and re-equipping our meat production unit will allow us to respond to current and anticipated future business growth. We are recruiting and currently looking to appoint a new factory manager, butchers, packers, drivers and an office manager/administrator.”
