Scottish butcher Jim Scott passes away

Much-loved Aberdeen butcher Jim Scott has died suddenly at the age of 67, local media reports have said.

Jim Scott was well-known as the last butcher in Aberdeen's King Street until his shop closed its doors for the last time in 2005. Sister-in-law and former work colleague Barbara Scott told the Aberdeen Evening Express: "He enjoyed life to the full."

Jim Scott has seven sons and, for 20 years, was married to Gillian, who started work at the Aberdeen butcher's shop with him when she was 16.

He got into the butchery trade aged 15 and got his first job at Spence Allsop in the old Aberdeen Market. He later went into business with his brother, Sandy, to open Scott's of King Street and managed the Aberdeen shop for 22 years.
