Asda's green delivery
Asda has taken delivery of 150 new environmentally-friendly refrigerated trailers from Schmitz Cargobull this year, which will save on fuel costs.
The trailers have all been fitted with side skirts, to improve the trailers' aero-dynamics and therefore improve fuel efficiency.
The trailers, which have been built in the UK at Schmitz Cargobull's manufacturing plant in County Durham, will operate out of Asda's regional distribution centres at Skelmersdale, Falkirk, Erith, Bedford, Lutterworth, Wakefield and Bristol and will deliver fresh food products to stores throughout the UK.
The dual-temperature trailers are fitted with Carrier fridges, rear opening doors and are run on Schmitz Cargobull Rotos axles with disc brakes.
Nigel Somers, Schmitz Cargobull UK regional sales director, said: "We are delighted to be working with Asda. Schmitz Cargobull is a major player in the UK refrigerated trailer market, because we offer quality vehicles with the lowest running costs, that are manufactured in an ultra-efficient production facility and backed up by a complete service and after-sales support operation. Asda recognises this and we look forward to working with them for many years to come."
