BDCI black tie event gets date change
The Butchers & Drovers Charitable Institution (BDCI) will be holding its AGM on 18 June and has relocated and rescheduled its annual black tie festival dinner.
The AGM will take place from 3pm at Smoothfield Homes, 130 Hibernia Road, Hounslow, and will see the election of a new president for the BDCI. Richard Cracknell has been proposed for the post, any other nominations should be received by the BDCI Clerk to the Trustees no later than 4 June. Those wishing to attend the AGM also need to inform the clerk by 11 June.
The BDCI has also moved its annual dinner to the 31 October, at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
A spokesperson for the organiser said the move had been made to accommodate increased ticket demands. "All indications are that, this year, the event will be more popular than ever and, in order to avoid any disappointment, the decision has been taken to move the event to a larger venue."
Susan White MBE, the chairman of BDCI, said: "The annual dinner, which has been staged by the charity for well over 100 years, is the established social and business event for the whole meat industry, as well as an important networking occasion. Guests can anticipate an excellent dinner and top-class entertainment at one of London's premier hotels for such occasions."
White added: "We have several new ideas this year, with improvements to the auction and a first-class after-dinner speaker. It will be a fantastic evening, of which the trade can be proud and we thank the many companies who support us and help raise funds for the BDCI."
