HSA welfare training DVD

 - Published:  21 April, 2006

A NEW welfare training DVD covering best practice for the catching, handling, transportation and slaughter of poultry is being released by The Humane Slaughter Association (HSA).

Poultry Welfare - Taking Responsibility is the first training DVD to be produced by the HSA. Covering broilers, hens, turkeys, ducks, geese and quail, the DVD is effectively the white meat equivalent of the successful HSA red meat training video, Humane Slaughter - Taking Responsibility.

Together with an accompanying booklet, the DVD provides comprehensive practical welfare guidance to all those involved in poultry slaughter.

The new DVD is part of the HSA's wide range of training, education and advisory services. This includes publications plus research and technical development work that provides practical solutions for establishing and maintaining high standards of food animal welfare during transport, at markets and at slaughter.

Used in a number of industry codes and quality schemes, publications include the Best Practice Guidelines series, recently updated guidance notes and new technical notes which cover a comprehensive range of practical welfare issues.
