Loch Ness crossing set to raise £150,000
A team from the meat industry is aiming to set a Guinness World Record with a sponsored kayak trip the length of Loch Ness.
The intrepid group, led by Asda's Jim Viggars and featuring colleagues and suppliers, will not only be hoping to not prove the existence of 'Nessie', but also raise more than £150,000 for cancer charities during their world record attempt on 18 May.
Viggars, who last year took on the elements with a bike from London to Paris and then Land's End to John O'Groats, said: "We will be covering 24.1 miles and if we push really hard through the day, we should be able to complete that in around seven hours.
"But it amounts to seven hours of non-stop paddling with no breaks, no toilet stops – nothing but water stretching out in front of you and quite a lot underneath you too."
Money raised will be going towards the Tickled Pink initiative, which supports Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign charities.
