Eblex raises £2,5000 to feed the homeless
Eblex managed to raise a total of £2,500 as part of its ‘Donate a Dinner’ and Crisis Christmas campaign last year.
The money raised meant that 2,000 homeless people were said to be able to enjoy a quality beef or lamb meal for eight days over the Christmas period.
Jane Ritchie-Smith, Eblex consumer marketing manager said: “The generous donations meant we were able to provide 2,000 homeless people with warming and hearty Quality Standard beef and lamb meals over the festive period – meals that were gratefully received.”
The campaign was led by chef Angela Hartnett who cooked a spicy beef stew using Quality Standard beef at a crisis shelter in Bermondsey, London, on 23 December.
Ritchie-Smith added: “Even though the purse strings were tight for many of us this Christmas, a lot of people were keen to help those less fortunate than themselves. We would like to thank everyone who made a donation or put in hard work behind the scenes, especially Angela.”
Donations were made in a number of ways, including a dedicated Crisis webpage, which was set up on www.simplybeefandlamb.co.uk. One anonymous national meat supplier was said to have donated 450kg of stewing steak to the campaign alone.
