Tenderlean Meats buyout saves 100 jobs

Northern Ireland processing firm Tenderlean Meats has been bought out of administration, saving nearly 100 jobs at its Derrylin factory.

A group of investors have paid an undisclosed amount for the company, purchasing all assets, and renamed the outfit ‘Tenderlean Limited’.
As part of the deal, all jobs were required to be kept in place at the new company. Contracts are being secured for workers who will be transferred from the Enniskillen shop to Derrylin.

A spokesperson for Tenderlean Meats, said: “We have been hit by the domino effect of a difficult economy and job losses in other parts of Fermanagh, but we will continue to supply across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and in parts of the UK.”

Tenderlean produces beef, lamb and chicken products for retail outlets and the new owners are in discussion with a major Irish retailer to secure significant listings for the company’s products, details of which will be released next week.

Tenderlean Meats made a profit of £3,126 in the year to 2008, compared to £233,922 in the 12 months previously.
