Heart of England reveals food and drink shortlist

Heart of England Fine Foods, the promotional body for the Midlands, has announced the finalist for its Diamond Awards.

Finalists in the Meat category, sponsored by Eblex and Bpex, are: Oxsprings in Worcestershire for its Air-dried Ham; Martins Meats in Gloucestershire for its Fillet Steak; and Maynards Farm Bacon in Shropshire for its Oak-smoked Treacle Streaky and also its Sweetcure Gammon.

Finalists in the Poultry and Game section, sponsored by accountancy firm Whittingham Riddlell, are: Goodman's Brothers in Worcestershire for its Free Range Oven Ready Bronze Turkey; and Arlington in Warwickshire for its Duck Three Roast Bird, Smoked Turkey and Turkey Sausage with Lemon, Pepper and Garlic.

Rightons of Shipston in Warwickshire is a finalist in the Prepared Foods category, sponsored by Asda, for its Homemade Pork Pie.

Judging was held at the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel in Shrewsbury, and the winners will be announced at an awards dinner on 15 May at Aston Villa Football Club in Birmingham.

The Heart of England comprises Shropshire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Birmingham and the Black Country.
