Buyer hopes for two meat plants

Administrator Andrew Sheridan of Baker Tilly told the Journal that three parties, which were in the meat business, had expressed a "serious" interest in buying the Caenarfon Abattoir in Gwynedd. "I hope to be in receipt of two or three offers in a week or two," he said.

The cutting plant in Newport which closed with the loss of 70 jobs has attracted less interest.

Gwynedd Watkins of the Farmers Union of Wales, said the main priority was to try to get the money owed to farmers from the old company.
