Butchers will be able to place their meat orders online with the launch of a new service from Weddel Swift.

Weddel Direct, a new website from the wholesaler, will enable butchers to refresh their stock with a click of the mouse, the company said. It launched the site at Foodex last week at the Birmingham NEC, and was giving live demonstrations for butchers at the show.

Jon Ainley, regional director of Weddel Swift, said: "We're delighted to have launched this service at Foodex, and it picked up some strong interest from visitors to the show.

"We're looking to offer the same great service online that butchers are used to in person or over the phone. So butchers can easily order product over the internet with the minimum of fuss. We're confident the new service is going to be a big hit."
