Westway sausages aims to tap ethnic market
A sausage producer is hoping to tap into the ethnic market with the launch of a new brand of unique sausages - Mr Singh's Bangras.
Charles Baughan, md of Westaway Sausages, said he had launched the sausages to bring innovation into the sector. "Not all Indians are muslims, and they can eat pork," he added. "You've got to come up with ideas and innovate."
The sausages were being showcased at the Food & Drink Expo, and Baughan said he was also in talks with Tesco to stock the range. Also on the Westaway stand was the A Turner & Sons sausages, produced in collaboration with the butcher and Westaways to raise money for the Help for Heroes charity.
On sale in 30 Tesco stores around the Aldershot area, Baughan said the range of two sausages, Pickled Pig and Hair of the Hog, had already managed to raise £10,000 for the charity.
