Conference to tackle nutrition and climate change

This year’s Langford Food Industry Conference is aiming to tackle the two main issues facing the UK meat industry - nutrition and climate change.

A spokesman for the event, which takes place from 30 June to 1 July, said: "The meat industry has been on the back foot on these issues for some time now but many believe the discussion has been one sided and we haven’t heard a balanced view. This conference aims to put that right."

The conference will see speakers from different sides of the debate present the facts on saturated fat and health, the role of meat in a balanced diet, and the impacts, both positive and negative, of livestock production on the environment.

Other discussions will cover how meat consumption patterns are changing, and historic place of meat within British culture.
