Kits target family mealtime
A new range of meat-based ready to cook meals hopes to cause a stir in the supermarket aisles.
Lake House Table, a new concept created by former Jordan's boss Ed Olphin and Trudi Styler, wife of the pop star Sting, has already gained listings in Waitrose and is about to roll out into online grocer Ocado.
The range features three chilled, ready to cook organic meals, offering chicken, beef and pork along with seasonal vegetables.
Olphin said: "You've got all the elements of a nice meal for two, and it can be ready in 20 minutes - we've done all the preparation. In research, consumers thought this was a great concept, 91% loved it and said they would buy it."
Priced at £9.99 per meal pack, the company said the range was inspired by Styler's organic farm at Lake House in Wiltshire. She said: "We've done extensive testing and research into this, we worked long and hard with a fantastic team of farmers and chefs to produce the range."
She added the concept behind the range was to encourage busy families to get back round the dinner table and share good quality food.
