Thieves steal two tonnes of meat from Notts butchers

Bacon, gammon and chicken were among meats taken from the manufacturing warehouse between 3.30pm on 29 January and 7am the next day.

Police expect the stolen meat will be sold via a farmer's market or put back into the butcher's trade.

According to PC Stephen Pridmore: “A transit-sized van or larger would probably have been used to carry this meat from the attacked premises.

"Many of the items stolen would have needed butchering prior to sale and would have needed a large refrigerator to keep them fresh.”

Pridmore added: “The theft of such a large quantity of produce clearly would have a significant impact on any butchery business.”

As well as the head office and manufacturing site in Tuxford, Michael Maloney butchers operates retail outlets in Mansfield, Blidworth and Worksop.
