New award to help reduce hazards

 - Published:  18 March, 2010

Awards body Food & Drink Qualifications (FDQ) has launched a new HACCP awareness award, designed to help food handlers new to the industry.

Angela Long, FDQ awarding body director, said: "The Level 1 Introduction to HACCP Award is an ideal platform to introduce first-time learners to food hazards and their controls. It can also be used as a refresher course for those who wish to progress to higher levels of food safety and HACCP qualifications.

"The award will be applicable for a variety of food sectors including food manufacturing, raw ingredients, catering, cleaning, packaging, logistics, primary processors and animal feeding stuffs.”

The new award will be delivered in-house by organisations or individuals approved and registered by FDQ.
