Scam warning for butchers
Butchers throughout Gloucestershire are being warned of a possible scam involving the purchase of large quantities of meat, according to the Cotswold Journal.
Police issued a warning after two butchers, in Tewkesbury and Gloucester, were contacted over the phone with orders for large quantities of meat. The purchaser then attempted to pay using stolen bankcards.
Both butchers became suspicious and contacted the police before completing any sale.
Gloucestershire police are now warning butchers to be vigilant and contact them on 0845 090 1234 if they receive any suspicious phone calls.
