Customers at Gerald David, the West Country butchers, are voting for the company’s favourite butcher as part of National Butchers Week.
According to director Phil David: “We’ve had a good response from the public. It keeps them involved - they’ve loved doing it”.
The shop offers leaflets at the counter for customers to take them home and send back in, “which they’ve been doing in their droves. They’re even paying the postage!” added David.
“We’ve also left a comments space, where they can put down what makes a good butcher. It’s something we can really learn from.”
The winning member of staff will win a night away at a hotel, which is “something for them to get up and go for,” David added.
Gerald David employs 25 butchers out of 50 staff, across branches in Minehead, Taunton, Dulverton in Somerset, plus Darts Farm shop at Topsham and Fermoys in Newton Abbot, both in Devon.
