Levy rates remain unchanged
Levy rates for the livestock sector are set to remain the same for the forthcoming year, according to the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board.
Ministers in Defra have now approved the rates paid by farmers and processors to both Eblex and Bpex from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011.
The levy rates for each year are proposed by AHDB’s six sector advisory boards when they assess what will be needed to fund their proposed strategic plans. These plans and levy rates are then published in a draft AHDB Corporate Plan, on which the industry is consulted. Following the consultation process, the proposed levy rates are put to Defra and devolved administration ministers for approval.
