Tesco signs Dicksons sausage deal
Pork butcher Dicksons is to launch its range of sausages into Tesco this month.
The north east-based family business will be introducing three varieties of sausage into Tesco stores as part of the Tesco Local initiative, which is the supermarket’s continued drive to satisfy the growing market for locally sourced regional products.
Dicksons MD Michael Dickson said: “We are delighted to be taking the Dicksons’ brand into Tesco. It is testament to the quality and taste of our range that we have been given such a prominent listing. We are confident that they will prove a popular addition to the sausage chillers.”
Dicksons’ branded Cumberland-style, Lincolnshire-style and pork sausages will be available in packs of six at 19 Tesco shops across the north east, including its flagship Extra and Superstores, from March.
The range, priced at £2.32, is made with British pork shoulder meat and is based on traditional Dickson family recipes that date back to the 1950s, when the family opened its first shop on Tyneside.
Caroline Bartrop, regional marketing for Tesco, added: “Dicksons’ sausages will be a great addition to our range of local products hailing from the north east. We have already seen the success of Dicksons’ pease pudding on our deli counters and know that our customers will agree their sausages are great quality!”
