BBC hunt for family butcher
A television company is looking for a butcher and their family to take part in a new series on the BBC, which will examine how shops have changed over the years.
Wall to Wall, the maker of Who Do You Think You Are?, Edwardian Country House and New Tricks, is looking for butcher families to take part in this living history experience for BBC1, during which they will be filmed through various different eras.
A Wall to Wall spokesperson said: “The search is on to find shopkeepers in a variety of trades to travel back to the 1870s and experience the birth of the British High Street. They will all be set up in an existing parade of shops, completely kitted out as it would have been in Victorian Britain. Each family will run their shop as authentically as possible. But each trade will be fast-forwarded through a century of change, comprising six key eras of British history – Victorian, Edwardian, 1920s and ’30s, World War Two, the ’50s and the ’70s.”
