Beacon recognition for Hark Mark Meats
Hall Mark Meat Hygiene has been awarded a Gloucestershire Beacon in recognition of best practice and innovation.
The South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) handed the award to the Gloucestershire firm at a recent Boardroom meeting of Beacons which is a SWRDA initiative which aims to put the regions’ leading businesses at the forefront of economic growth.
Hall Mark Meat Hygiene MD John Gerard said: “It has been fantastic to celebrate our accreditation with our peers and the South West RDA at the Beacon Boardroom. It is a privilege to be acknowledged alongside the rapidly growing number of inspiring and innovative firms in Gloucestershire. Ours is an unusual sector, but we have designed a company culture based on people working together to achieve exceptionally high standards, and it is this approach which I believe will be the key to continued growth both in and beyond the region.”
Hall Mark employs vets to monitor animal welfare and meat hygiene standards at abattoirs from north of Scotland to West Wales to East Anglia, on behalf of the Meat Hygiene Service. It is said to have grown from six to more than 90 vets since 2002 and has a 26% share of the sector, the company claimed.
Sue Baker, Beacon South West project director, added: “Hall Mark Meat Hygiene is a welcome addition to the 38 companies already holding Beacon status in Gloucestershire. They are high achievers with great business acumen, excellent internal support networks with the emphasis on coaching to enable local managers to be as autonomous as possible. The company’s focus on leadership, its lean organisational structure and the creation of a strong employer brand makes them a Beacon through and through. We look forward to them participating in the Boardrooms and know the expertise and knowledge they will bring will serve to benefit others facing the challenges of 2010.”
