 - Published:  12 February, 2010

The 10 chefs through to the final of the Aubrey Allen-sponsored British Culinary Federation ‘Chef of the Year’ for 2010 have been revealed.

They are: Matthew Cheal of Simpsons in Edgbaston, Paul Foster from Restaurant Sat Bains, Nottingham, David Kennedy of Black Door Group in Newcastle, Kevin Sutherland of Baxter Storey, London, Des Turland from the Royal Duchy Hotel in Falmouth, Stephanie Moon of Leeds City College, Dean Crews from Finesse Hotels in Derby, Chris Godfrey of The Old Police House in Chipping Norton, Roland Graham, The Merchant Hotel, Belfast and Matthew Warburton from Mint Restaurant in Birmingham.

Each chef has to prepare a starter, a main course containing a saddle of English lamb provided by Aubrey Allen, and a dessert, at Hotelolympia on 1 March.

The winner will receive £2,500, with £500 for the second placed chef and £250 for third.

According to Peter Allen, managing director of Aubrey Allen: “It is so good to see so many talented young chefs, although I do not envy the pressure that they will experience or the task of the judges in deciding which one should be awarded first prize.”
