British Pie Awards return

 - Published:  12 February, 2010

The British Pie Awards will return in 2010 to seek out the best products from across the UK. Butchers, bakers and manufacturers will all be able to compete to take home the title of “Supreme Champion” at Melton Mowbray on 19 May.

Now in their second year, the British Pie Awards 2010 are organised by The Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association and, this year, Colman’s will be sponsoring the event.

Last year saw a range of pies from every corner of the country from professional bakers and butchers eager to showcase the best in the business.

The final pie showdown was a closely-fought contest, with Sainsbury’s Melton Mowbray Pork Pie produced by Walker’s Charnwood Bakery declared the first-ever British Pie Awards ‘Supreme Champion – Pie of Pies’, beating off more than 500 pie rivals.

The British Pie Awards will take place at St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray. Judges will include celebrities as well as pie experts. Signed up so far are Nigel Barden, Charles Campion and Annie Bell.
